Dresses

I have been to a huge number of shops on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon to find my dress.  I started off looking for a dress to rent, but there were usually many restrictions when I needed to alter the dress.  One problem is that the shop can't adjust the length of some dresses such as the ones with lace.  This makes it hard for the bride to walk around freely, not to mention the risk of damaging the rental dress when it's too long.  I ended up having my dress tailor made because it provided a perfect fit.  The dress is one of the most important part of the wedding day, and in my opinion, the investment of time and effort is worthwhile. 

Apart from the design, it is important that the bride chooses a dress which fits her build and character.  Some tips:
Aline: Creates a slimmer waistline
Ballerina dress: For those with a full bust but a slim-hipped figure
Column dress: Usually for tall women
Empire: If you have a small build
Mermaid dress: For curvy girls

It is a good idea to bring some friends/people in your family (especially those with good fashion taste!) with you when going for dress shopping.  The experience is more fun when a group of people shop together.  Your companions can provide useful advice, pick up dresses which you might have missed from the racks, talk to the sales to find out more about the styles which will fit you best and last but not least, to get a better bargin sometimes!
