We knew from the start that we wanted to get identical rings for the both of us and also simple designs. It is also common for the couple to get different rings when each person has a different preference for designs.
The first question we had was whether we should go to designer jewelery brands or local jewelers. We went to both and found that for simple designs, local jewelers can provide very good value for money deals. Also, they are able to custom make the wedding rings within 1 - 2 weeks, which is very efficient compared to up to 4 months waiting time for designer jewelery brands if a suitably sized ring needs to be ordered from overseas.
The second question was whether we should go for platinum or white gold. After talking to people and researching on websites, we got platinum wedding rings because they are more durable. Also, since white gold is an alloy of gold and another metal e.g. nickel, some people might be sensitive to the metal. From the research we did, white gold rings might turn yellow after a few years and so it's recommendable to have a rhodium coating on white gold rings to prevent discolouration.
Common choices are:
Platinum
White Gold
Rose Gold
Titantium
Rhodium
